Financial Assistance
The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate(PACER) provides a travel subsidy to schools
to help students financially.
In order to be eligible for this rebate, the students must visit and
participate in education programs (where possible) at Parliament
House, Old Parliament House and/or the Electoral Education
Centre and the Australian War Memorial as part of their civics and
citizenship curriculum.
This program is funded by the Australian Government Department
of Education, Science and Training. Rates of the subsidy are from
$20 – $260 per student depending on distance travelled to the
National Capital and is indicated in the below diagram. The program
benefits students in Years 4–12 living further than 150 kilometres
from Canberra.

Application for the PACER rebate must be made prior to your
school’s departure to Canberra. Not all excursions to Canberra
are eligible for PACER, so be sure to read the guidelines carefully
before submitting your school’s applications. All relevant
information will be forwarded to you inside your tour pack no
later than 6 weeks prior to your school’s departure.
